# Moving your email to another provider

> Copy your old mailboxes into any other email provider with its import tool, or with an email app on a computer.

This page covers the copy into any email provider other than Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. Do the steps in [Get ready](/dealers/email-transfer/managing-email-transfer#get-ready) first.

## Copy your mailboxes with your provider's import tool

Most email providers have a tool that copies email from an IMAP server. Search your provider's help for "IMAP migration" or "import email". For example, Zoho Mail calls it **Data Migration**.

Each tool asks for the old email details that you collected in [Get ready](/dealers/email-transfer/managing-email-transfer#get-ready).

## Copy your mailboxes with an email app

If your provider has no import tool, use an email app on a computer.

    In an email app such as Outlook or Thunderbird, add your old account and your new account.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Copy the folders">
    Copy each folder from the old account to the new account. Copy a few folders at a time.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the counts">
    Compare the number of messages in each folder.
  </Step>

## If it doesn't work

| The import tool cannot connect | Check the IMAP server name, the port and the security type with your old provider |
