# Moving your email to Microsoft 365

> Copy every old mailbox into Microsoft 365 with a migration batch, then copy the last messages after you switch.

This page covers the copy into Microsoft 365. Microsoft also calls it Office 365. Do the steps in [Get ready](/dealers/email-transfer/managing-email-transfer#get-ready) first.

## Copy your mailboxes into Microsoft 365

You need an administrator account for your Microsoft 365.

  <Step title="Open Migration">
    In the Exchange admin center, go to **Migration**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open Endpoints">
    Click **Endpoints**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add an endpoint">
    Click **Add**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect to your old email">
    Choose **IMAP**. Type a name for the connection. Enter your old IMAP server name in **IMAP server**. Click **Create**.

  <Step title="Go back to Migration">
    Go back to **Migration**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start a migration batch">
    Click **Add migration batch**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name the batch">
    Type a name with no spaces. Select **Migrate to Exchange Online**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose IMAP">
    Select **IMAP migration**. Then select the connection that you created.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add your mailboxes">
    Download the CSV template. Fill in one row for each mailbox. Click **Import CSV file** to upload it.

  <Step title="Save the batch">
    Finish the steps. Click **Save**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start the copy">
    Click **Done**.

## Fill in the CSV file

The CSV file has three columns:

| Column | What to enter |
| - | - |
| `EmailAddress` | The new Microsoft 365 address |
| `UserName` | The user name of the old mailbox |
| `Password` | The password of the old mailbox |

## Check the copy's progress

Select the batch. Then click **View details**.

Large mailboxes take hours or days. Your team keeps using email as usual while it copies.

When the first copy finishes, switch your email. See [Switch your email to the new provider](/dealers/email-transfer/managing-email-transfer#switch-your-email-to-the-new-provider).

## Copy the last messages after you switch

Leave the batch running for 72 hours after you switch your mail records. It copies new email once a day. Then select the batch and click **Delete** to stop the copy.

## If it doesn't work

| Problem | What to do |
| - | - |
| The connection fails | Check the IMAP server name with your old provider |
| One mailbox will not sign in | Sign in to your old webmail with that address and password. Fix the password in the CSV file |
| The batch fails for a mailbox | Check that the `EmailAddress` in the CSV file matches the new Microsoft 365 address |
