# Overview

> Understand how tire, parts, and wheel markups protect your margin and keep prices consistent.

Distributor costs and inventory can change throughout the day. Your markup settings turn those changing costs into consistent prices for your shop.

For tires, four tabs work together. They choose the available costs, select a starting price, add brand adjustments, and apply rules for tires and installation.

Editing **Tire Markups** needs **Owner** or **Admin** access for your dealership.

## Why markups matter

A tire sale must cover more than the distributor cost. Your price also needs to reflect installation work, difficult tire types, and your shop's margin.

One pricing setup applies the same strategy across your catalog. You can still treat a preferred distributor, brand, tire type, or cost range differently.

Parts and wheels use separate cost-based tiers. These tiers can place a larger percentage on inexpensive items and a smaller percentage on costly items.

## The four tire settings tabs

### 1. Distributors

Choose which distributors take part in pricing. Set a fixed or percentage markup for each one. You can also choose one primary distributor as a price floor.

### 2. Pricing Scheme

Choose how TireTutor selects one marked-up distributor price. The scheme can use the lowest, average, middle, or highest qualifying price.

### 3. Brands

Choose which brands appear in your catalog. Add a fixed or percentage markup to individual brands when your strategy calls for it.

### 4. Custom Markups

Set rules for the tire price, installation fee, and run-flat surcharge. One matching rule applies in each category.
