# Managing promotions

> Add banner promotions, schedule them with start and end dates, and control which ones your customers see.

A promotion is a banner image that your dealer customers see on the home page of your customer storefront. Some accounts also show the banners on the storefront's tire search page. To turn that on, contact support.

A promotion appears on the storefront while it is **Active** and inside its date range. When you create a promotion, leave a date blank for no limit. Clearing a saved date from an existing promotion does not remove it. The saved date stays in place after you select **Update**. To run a promotion with no date limit, create a new promotion.

The **Promotions** page shows a preview of your current promotions above the **All Promotions** table. The table lists every promotion, including scheduled and expired ones. The portal home page also shows how many active promotions you have.

## Add a promotion

**When:** You have a banner image for a sale or a seasonal offer.

    In the portal, select **Promotions**.

  <Step title="Start a promotion">
    Select **New Promotion**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name the promotion">
    In the **Add a Promotion** dialog, enter a **Name**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the dates">
    Choose a **Start Date** and an **End Date**, or leave them blank.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start the upload">
    Select **Upload Banner**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the banner">
    Choose a JPEG or PNG image. A preview loads in the dialog.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the image size">
    Use an image that is 600 by 180 pixels or smaller. The dialog shows a warning for a larger image, but still accepts it.

  <Step title="Save the promotion">
    Select **Create**.

  The portal confirms **Promotion Created!** The promotion appears in **All Promotions**, and the preview shows it when it is active.

## Turn a promotion on or off

**When:** You want to hide a promotion without deleting it, or show it again.

    In the portal, select **Promotions**.

  <Step title="Find the promotion">
    Find the promotion's row in **All Promotions**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Change the active state">
    Select or clear the **Active** checkbox in that row.

  The preview above the table updates. The storefront hides an inactive promotion.

## Edit a promotion

**When:** The name, dates, or banner need a change.

  <Step title="Open the promotions page">
    In the portal, select **Promotions**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the edit dialog">
    Under **Actions**, select the pencil icon for the promotion.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Update the details">
    In the **Edit Promotion** dialog, change **Name**, **Active**, **Start Date**, or **End Date** as needed. You can move a date, but you cannot remove one: a cleared date keeps its saved value.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Replace the banner">
    To replace the image, select **Change Banner**, then choose a JPEG or PNG image.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save the promotion">
    Select **Update**.
  </Step>

  The portal confirms **Promotion updated!** The row shows the new values. A date you cleared still shows its previous value.

## Delete a promotion

**When:** A promotion has ended and you do not need it again.

    In the portal, select **Promotions**.

  <Step title="Open the delete dialog">
    Under **Actions**, select the trash icon for the promotion.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm the deletion">
    In the **Delete Promotion?** dialog, select **Yes, Delete Promotion**.
  </Step>

  The portal confirms **Promotion deleted!** The promotion no longer appears in **All Promotions**. You cannot restore a deleted promotion.
