Rate an item
When: You’re working through the vehicle. Every item takes one of four ratings:
Add a measurement where you have one, like tread depth or pad thickness. Add a note in plain language — the customer reads it.
Read the tire placard with your camera
When: You want the vehicle’s factory tire sizes and pressures without typing them. The placard is the sticker in the driver’s door jamb. Open the Interior section and find the Tire Placard item.1
Tap the camera icon and photograph the placard
Get the whole sticker in frame and keep it in focus. The label reads Take Photo, or Retake Photo if you’re replacing one.
2
Wait for Analyzing placard
A confidence chip appears when it finishes, reading Extracted with a percentage.
3
Check what it read
You’ll see front, rear, and spare sizes and pressures, plus GVWR. An alert reminds you to Verify extracted data.
4
Correct anything wrong, then tap Done Editing
Editing gives you Front Size, Front PSI, Rear Size, Rear PSI, Spare Size, and Spare PSI.
The sizes match the sticker you photographed. Once you’ve edited a field, the reading is marked as verified by you rather than by the camera.
Open the review panel
When: You’ve finished rating items and you’re ready to draft what the customer sees. Everything AI does — the summary, the service list, and sending — happens in one panel, and you open it with Review & Send Report at the bottom of the form.1
Fill in mileage and customer name first
The button checks for both and won’t continue without them.
2
Tap Review & Send Report
If you haven’t recorded a walkthrough video, you’ll be asked Add a Walkthrough Video? first. Choose Record Video, or Continue Without Video to move on.
The AI Inspection Report panel opens, showing Inspection Summary and Service Recommendations. You do the next three tasks here, then tap Send Report at the bottom of the same panel.
Generate the customer summary
When: The review panel is open.1
Find Inspection Summary
The empty state reads “Generate a customer-ready summary, or write your own.”
2
Tap Generate AI Summary
It shows Analyzing inspection data… while it works.
3
Read it before you accept it
You get a plain-language summary organised by how urgent each finding is.
4
Edit anything you'd say differently
The summary is fully editable. Your edits show an Edited badge.
The summary matches what you actually found, and nothing in it would surprise you if the customer read it back to you.
A summary is optional. Tap Send Report without one and DVI asks whether you’d like to generate it first — you can go ahead regardless. The summary is the part most customers actually read, so it’s worth the minute.
Regenerate asks to confirm, because it discards your current text. There’s an Undo if you change your mind.
Generate suggested services
When: The review panel is open. Services usually draft themselves the first time the panel opens, as long as you’ve rated something Required or Suggested. To do it yourself, tap Auto-Generate Services under Service Recommendations. You’ll get up to six services, each with a name, a short explanation for the customer, and a price. The AI dropdown also offers:Every auto-generated service traces back to something you rated. If one appears that you didn’t find, remove it. Items you pull in with Add Maintenance come from the vehicle’s service schedule instead, so they won’t match a rating.
Set your own prices
When: Always, before you send the report. This is the step to never skip. The AI prices services from US national averages, because it has no access to your labour rate or your parts cost. Those numbers are a starting point, not a quote.1
Open each service and look at the price
Each service has an Exact / Est. toggle beside its price.
2
Choose Exact when you know the price
Enter your single price. The customer sees that figure.
3
Choose Est. when the cost depends on what you find
Enter a low and a high. The customer sees Up to the high figure, and approves that as a maximum.
4
Work through every service before sending
There’s no shop-wide price list, so this happens per inspection.
Every price is one you’d stand behind on the phone. In the review panel, the service list header reads Total when all prices are exact, or Est. Total with a range when any are estimates.
The customer’s approval confirmation uses different wording for the same idea — Total Authorized when every price is exact, Max Authorized when any is an estimate. Same numbers, different screen.
Add a service the AI missed
When: You know the vehicle needs work the AI didn’t draft. Tap Add Service, then enter the name, the explanation for the customer, and your price. Services you add yourself default to an exact price rather than an estimate, since you already know what you charge.Where to go next
