A service charge adds a percentage to an estimate or work order. Set it up alongside automatic shop fees on the Shop Fees settings page.

Before you start

Open Settings → Organization → Shop Fees. The page shows one form per shop, titled with the shop’s name. Each form holds four sections:
  • Automatic Tire Shop Fee: a fee on service groups that include a tire.
  • Automatic General Shop Fee: a fee on service groups without a tire.
  • Total Fee Cap: a limit on the total of the two automatic shop fees.
  • Service Charge: a percentage on the order’s included items.
The Total Fee Cap does not limit Service Charge.

The percentage uses the included items’ prices after item discounts and before tax, while a flat fee applies once per included line item. Select Save to apply the settings. Select Reset to discard unsaved changes. Automatic General Shop Fee appears as Service Shop Fee on the order.

How TireTutor applies the charge

  • The service charge covers included tires, parts, labor, fixed service fees, warranty items, and state tire tax items.
  • The percentage applies to each included item’s price after item discounts and before tax.
  • The order’s Shop Fees section lists the charge as Service Charge. The payment summary adds it to the Shop Fees total.
  • Tax on the service charge follows your shop’s tax settings for shop fees and the order’s tax exemptions.
  • Order-level fee exclusions can remove the service charge.

Adjust the charge on one order

When: An estimate or editable work order needs a different service charge from the shop setting.
1

Open Shop Fees on the order

In the order’s Shop Fees section, select the pencil icon. Its tooltip reads Edit.
2

Mark the charge as custom

On the Service Charge row, check the box in the CUSTOMIZE column. Calculated Value under PRICE changes to a field.

3

Enter the price

Enter the amount in the PRICE field. A custom row needs a price.
4

Save

Select Save.
To discard the edits instead, select Cancel.
The Service Charge row shows a check mark under CUSTOM. TireTutor keeps the custom amount when it recalculates the order.
A work order converted from an estimate keeps the estimate’s custom shop fees.

Change or turn off the charge

Open the shop’s form on Shop Fees. Change Fee, or turn off the Service Charge toggle. Select Save. Changes can affect existing estimates and editable work orders when TireTutor recalculates their totals. Completed work orders keep their saved totals, and TireTutor preserves custom amounts on individual orders.

Where the charge appears in Square

For an itemized Square order, TireTutor groups shop fees, including the service charge, into Shop Supplies Fee. A partial payment link shows one line instead of the itemized order: Partial payment for followed by the order number.

Refunds

Enter the total refund in Refund Amount, including any service charge you intend to return. TireTutor does not automatically add the service charge to that amount. See Issue a refund.
