Use this page when you need different margins for inexpensive and costly inventory items. Parts and wheels use separate sets of tiers, and the settings apply to one shop location at a time.
You need Owner or Admin access for the shop or its dealership.
A markup applies only when an item has a cost but no sell price. TireTutor keeps an existing sell price.
Create a markup tier
When: A cost range needs its own fixed or percentage markup.
Open Parts & Wheels Markups
In the sidebar, under Shop Settings , select Parts & Wheels Markups .
Choose a markup section
Use Parts Markup for parts. Use Wheels Markup for wheels.
Add a tier
Select Add Tier in the correct section. The Add Markup Tier dialog opens.
A new tier needs a category, a markup, and a cost range.
Set the cost range
Enter Cost range min () ∗ ∗ a n d ∗ ∗ C o s t r a n g e m a x ( )** and **Cost range max ( ) ∗ ∗ an d ∗ ∗ C os t r an g e ma x ( ) . The tier matches a cost from the minimum up to, but not including, the maximum.
Set the markup
Choose a percentage or fixed amount. Enter the value to add to cost.
Save the tier
Select Save Tier .
Save all changes
After you review both sections, select Save Changes .
Confirm the change summary
The Review your pricing changes dialog lists each change. Select Confirm save to apply them.
The dialog lists every pending tier change before anything saves.
The new tier appears in the correct section. Its cost range does not overlap another tier.
Build tiered markups
When: Less expensive items need a higher percentage than costly items.
Start with the lowest cost band
Create a tier for your least expensive parts or wheels.
Add the next cost band
Select Add Tier . Set the new minimum equal to the previous maximum, for example 0–100 and then 100–500.
Lower the percentage where needed
Use smaller percentages for costlier items when price competition is stronger.
Cover the full cost range you use
Repeat the tiers without overlaps or gaps. A cost that matches no tier gets no automatic markup.
Save all changes
Select Save Changes after you review every range.
Confirm the change summary
The Review your pricing changes dialog lists each change. Select Confirm save to apply them.
Each cost can match no more than one tier in Parts Markup or Wheels Markup .
Edit a markup tier
When: A cost range or markup amount no longer fits your strategy.
Find the tier
Open Parts & Wheels Markups . The tier sits under Parts Markup or Wheels Markup .
Open the tier for editing
Select the pencil icon in the tier’s Actions column.
Change the range or markup
Keep the updated cost range separate from the other tiers.
Save the tier

Remove a markup tier
When: You no longer want to use an existing markup tier.
Find the tier
Open Parts & Wheels Markups . The tier sits under Parts Markup or Wheels Markup .
Remove the tier
Select the red trash can icon in the tier’s Actions column.
Save all changes
Select Save Changes .
Confirm the change summary

The section does not contain the removed tier. Existing sell prices remain unchanged.
How a tier sets a sell price
When a new item has cost but no sell price, TireTutor finds the matching tier. A tier matches a cost from its minimum up to, but not including, its maximum. TireTutor adds that tier’s fixed or percentage markup to cost.
For example, a 20 p a r t w i t h a 200 20 part with a 200% markup gets a 20 p a r tw i t ha 200 40 markup. TireTutor creates a $60 sell price.
This calculation happens when TireTutor creates the sell price. The markup does not replace a sell price that already exists.
